April 1 @ 8:00 am April 2 @ 12:00 pm

This engaging and in-depth course explores the evolution and advanced applications of design by analysis (DBA) technology in ASME Section VIII Division 2 (VIII-2). Attendees will explore the development of DBA principles, including key terminology, stress classifications, and the allowable stress basis, while gaining a clear understanding of the benefits of designing equipment to VIII-2 standards. Building on DBA’s fundamentals, the course dives into essential material properties, advanced techniques, and numerical analysis methods for mitigating risks like plastic collapse, local failure, and buckling. Practical, real-world problems illustrate the application of DBA concepts, while historical publications and technical developments provide valuable context. This learning experience equips participants with the foundational knowledge and advanced skills needed to elevate their approach to pressure equipment design.
