RENEWABLE ENERGY SERVICES

Reliably & Safely Convert Existing Infrastructure to Sustainable Products

With the global increase in focus on sustainability for products and services, government policy and consumer preference are shifting demands from traditional refining, petrochemical, and chemical industries to more sustainable products and services.

Re-Use & Re-Purpose Equipment

As several industries shift to address the global energy transition, many refineries or petrochemical facilities are being re-purposed to process renewable diesel and other green / blue energy sources and products. With any new process technology, uncertainty regarding corrosion mechanisms and lack of data or direct experience can lead to over-conservative decisions that prolong a project and increase its costs.

At Equity, we leverage our expertise in renewable fuels with our extensive knowledge of traditional refineries, petrochemical, chemical process, and ethanol processing industries to provide the optimal solutions. Our multi-disciplinary team provides consulting services, software, and training to create safe operating environments, manage risk, control inspection costs throughout a facility’s lifecycle, and meet jurisdictional requirements.

Biofuel & Biodiesel

The profitability of a renewable diesel unit or other fuel-from-biomass project lies in the speed in which the company can bring products to market.

At Equity, we help companies balance reliability in design and materials with profitability and speed to market.

Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS)

CCS projects use infrastructure similar to energy, petrochemical, and chemical processing facilities – pressure vessels, storage facilities, and pipelines.

Equity’s industry expertise and knowledge of re-purposing facilities will help owner-users find the optimal solution.

Renewable Energy Consulting Service Areas

Develop an asset criticality assessment and help prioritize inspection, testing, and preventative maintenance (ITPM) activities for your asset.

Access the Equity Engineering Practices® (EEPs) new reuse practices which are essential when determining whether an existing plant’s assets can be re-purposed.

Assess the integrity of pressure vessels, piping, and tanks to determine if the component is fit for continued operation or if the flaw or damage will cause a failure.

Establish measurement objectives and constraints to improve the safety and reliability of instrument and control systems.

Consider feedstock source changes, identify the effect on damage mechanism susceptibility, and calculate the impacts on corrosion.

Define anticipated damage and necessary maintenance to keep equipment or tanks in-service.

Verify safety critical pressure relieving systems, provide adequate protection, and meet the latest jurisdictional and RAGAGEP requirements.

Compare upfront costs of design improvements or process changes with long-term risk reduction and inspection savings.

Conduct onsite piping and structural vibration surveys to evaluate equipment, assess the risk of vibration, and mitigate vibration fatigue failures.

International Engineering Practices

The European Standards (EN) are a collection of unified standards for products, services, testing procedures, or systems recognized by the European Union and many other countries and globally based institutions. Equity is adding international engineering practices that will cover in-service piping, vessels, and tanks. In addition, the EEPs will offer EN equivalents to US Standards, and the extensive materials of construction tables will be updated to the EN equivalent.
