Pressure Relief for Non-Process Engineers: 10 Things All Plant Personnel Should Know

February 21, 2022 @ 8:00 am 5:00 pm

The increased emphasis on safety in the refining and petrochemical industries has produced greater sophistication in the analysis of overpressure concerns and in the design of pressure relieving systems. Although relief system design is typically the responsibility of process/chemical engineers, there are many aspects of pressure relief systems that project engineers, mechanical and reliability engineers, inspection specialists, and other plant personnel should be familiar with.

This webinar was broadcast in collaboration with Inspectioneering. During the webinar, Phil Henry provided a high level overview of the some of the current and pressing issues related to the design, installation, selection, sizing, inspection and testing of pressure relief devices that all plant personnel should be familiar with.  Topics, including ASME Code requirements, credible versus remote overpressure scenarios, recent API guidance on PRV instability and the 3% rule, setting of inspection and testing intervals, sparing of relief valves, will be covered with the intent to promote awareness of these key issues to the attendees.
