A Practical Overview of Stress Corrosion Cracking Damage Mechanisms
September 15, 2022 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
This webinar is intended to provide practical insights into some of the most common forms of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) affecting pressure equipment in the oil refining and related industries.
Specifically, typical damage morphologies, affected materials, inspection practices, and critical fabrication and process variables influencing damage susceptibility will be examined. Additionally, a high-level overview of fitness-for-service (FFS) assessment methodologies, consistent with API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, Fitness-For-Service (API 579) for qualifying SCC damage will be offered. Practical SCC mitigation techniques will be discussed, where actionable steps will be outlined for preventing cracking damage from occurring in the first place. Lastly, this webinar will also serve as a preview of the upcoming Inspectioneering eBook, A Guide to Stress Corrosion Cracking Management, authored by Mr. Prueter, that will include a comprehensive discussion on all relevant aspects of SCC.
