E²G Opens New Office in Katy, TX for Increased Fitness-for-Service & Asset Management Capabilities

E²G | The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. is pleased to announce we are increasing our physical presence in the greater Houston region with a new office in Katy, TX. E²G’s expanded presence will provide locally based advanced fitness-for-service (FFS) and mechanical engineering expertise to our clients in the Gulf Coast and South Central regions. As pioneers of FFS technologies and lead investigators of API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, it is important that we grow our capabilities and service offerings to companies based in and around the global energy capital.

“At E²G, we don’t shy away from change. We always strive to deliver legendary service; therefore, we are building a regional team of mechanical engineering and fitness-for-service experts who will help our clients extend the lifecycle of their existing assets and create safe operating environments. The new Katy, TX office is based upon feedback I received during my 2022 client visits and builds on the momentum generated from opening our West Coast office last year. I am excited about the possibilities that this local FFS team will bring to our clients and the E²G team.”  David A. Osage, President & CEO, E²G.

Since 2002, E²G’s risk-based inspection (RBI) team has been based in Clear Lake, TX and delivering RBI implementation services to clients across North America. By opening a second Houston-area office, our clients benefit from a locally based mechanical and structural engineering team plus multi-disciplinary collaboration with our RBI team to deliver full asset management capabilities. The Katy office will be led by Kevin LoCascio who brings more than 15 years of fixed equipment experience to the E²G team.

Effects of Friction on Rotating Equipment Compliance: Modeling Considerations in Pipe Stress Simulation

A recurring challenge is ensuring that modeling assumptions in pipe stress analysis don’t create hidden risks for rotating equipment and piping code compliance. This article explores how friction and vertical support behavior can dramatically influence nozzle load calculations, sometimes turning a compliant system into a non-compliant one. Using case studies and practical examples, the authors highlight best practices and advanced tools like SIMFLEX-IV to improve accuracy and reliability across complex operating conditions.
