Overview:

Joan is a staff engineer with the Mechanical & Structural Engineering team at Equity Engineering.  As a member of this team, she performs FFS evaluations for in-service equipment and provides turnaround engineering support.  She is the responsible engineer for several of Equity’s Section 8 Engineering Practices (EPs) for heat exchanger-related items and attends the API Refining Standards meetings for the unfired standards of the Subcommittee on Heat Transfer Equipment (SCHTE).

Prior to Equity, Joan participated in two co-ops at Delta Systems, Inc., where she designed a streamlined changeover system for programming PCBs, improved a continuity tester by incorporating a date-coder and reducing changeovers, and redesigned the fixtures and structures used in a laser date coder system.  Additionally, she redesigned a series of marine switches, designed fixtures to aid in programming and measuring, and analyzed the data from force and IP67 tests that she carried out.  Joan also participated in a co-op at Moen, Inc., where she developed the on-platform trim limits and technical design review for 1-handle lavatory faucets, performed various lab tests, analyzed the resulting data, and provided solutions to problems.

Joan is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
