Practices 2.0: Next-Gen Engineering Standards

Practices 2.0: Next-Gen Engineering Standards

We have been busy developing the next generation of the Equity Engineering Practices (EEPs), our operational excellence platform.  Practices 2.0 is a modern, intuitive interface with multiple options for accessing, storing, and organizing content.  The platform is easier to navigate with its reorganized menus as well as enhanced interface, security, and other features.

Improved speed and performance, enhanced search functionality, increased client controls, upgraded security

Viewing an EP on Practices 2.0 is 20-25% faster than before!  The improved speed and efficiency come from simplified backend processes, simpler user-facing features such as new shortcut buttons (e.g., Go To, Back to the Top, etc.), and accordion menus to reduce scrolling through long lists.  These minor details make navigating through the content on your EEPs website easier, especially on touchscreen devices.

  • The new search engine enables basic, advanced, and filtered search results of all content hosted on your EEPs website.
  • Easily connect legacy content to your EPs, as files can now be added and organized.
  • New user permissions and controls provide a customized, independent user experience.
  • Create, manage, and maintain project locks, deviations, legacy content, level and duration of access, and more.

Over the coming months, we will continue to share our progress on Practices 2.0.  Stay tuned for articles on:

  • Simplified modern interface
  • Seamless migration to Practices 2.0: what you need to know
  • Custom filters of your EEPs that support your function (Dynamic Indexes)
  • Connecting legacy content to your EEPs (Collections)
  • Locking and using your EEPs through a project: as simple as 1-2-3 (Projects)
  • Self-service customization of the look and feel of Practices 2.0 to support your user community
  • How are your EEPs being used? We can show you. (Roles, User Roles, Client Dashboard)
  • Comprehensive piping specification database: improved purchasing via a customizable Material Take Off (MTO) export

The EEPs are the industry’s most comprehensive standardized Best Practices that will help improve the quality of engineering programs, project execution, and asset life cycle.  The web-based collection of detailed and customizable Best Practices satisfies Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and includes current regulatory requirements, engineering guidance, customizable best engineering practices, and a document management system.

These owner-focused and customizable documents can be tailored to specific plant, facility, or technology needs and incorporate lessons learned to prevent future failures.  The cloud-based website allows organizations to add proprietary documents to a Collection with user-specified categorization, such as by facility or by specialty.
