Practices 2.0: Seamless Migration

Practices 2.0: Seamless Migration

Practices website version 2.0 is here!

E2G has been migrating our Equity Engineering Practices (EEPs) user community to our Practices 2.0.  The evolution of the new website brings our EEP user community requests to the forefront and introduces several new features and enhancements.  Our vision in creating Practices 2.0 is our users.  From expanding capabilities for self-managed content to the ability to host and manage client-specific content beyond the EP collection, Practices 2.0 is here to effortlessly serve our users in their daily operational needs.

In this migration effort, we perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for each of our clients to ensure our system supports all users in their daily operations, provide a demo and tour of the new website to orientate both new and existing users, and provide continuous training for newly onboarded users and those looking to revisit and relearn.  With a familiar but streamlined interface, user migration is seamless.

Why is E2G migrating to a new website?

E2G’s principal reasons for upgrading the Practices website to version 2.0 include improved authentication scheme (SSO) from website versions 1.7 and 1.8, the extension of administrative privileges enabling EEP users to have an active role in the website interface, and further expansion of hosting client-specific content.  A few other notable features include:

  • Increased website security – E2G is using the latest technology in website security
  • Streamlined menu options
  • Increased website functionality – left-click options for viewing, downloadable editable documents, tabs within the EP menu to allow users to toggle between EPs and permanent links to documents that take users to a document hosted outside of Practices 2.0
  • Faster page loading for EPs and locked projects
  • Capabilities for clients to manage some content on their website themselves
  • Incorporation of client legacy collections on the website
  • Improved functionality for global website search which includes client legacy content
  • Streamlined project locking and contractor assignment tasks
  • Improved user experience
  • Ability to download editable data sheets, checklists, and forms
  • Development and support by an in-house E2G software team

When will Practices 2.0 be available to Practices subscribers?

E2G is migrating all current Practices clients to the new Practices 2.0 platform by the end of the third quarter this year.  Newly subscribing clients will be set up on the new website immediately.

Where are we in the migration process? Currently, users are situated between five phases: in queue to begin migration, user acceptance testing, live on Practices 1.7 or 1.8 and Practices 2.0, live on Practices 2.0, and remaining users to be migrated in the third quarter.
