Insulation Thickness One Size Does Not Fit All

Synopsis

When determining required insulation thicknesses for piping and equipment, plant engineers frequently turn to legacy insulation thickness tables that can date back over 30 years. In addition to legacy tables not reflecting advancements in insulating materials, they can also be quite generic in nature, using a “one-size-fits-all” approach across all sites, when in actuality, optimal insulation thicknesses may vary significantly from one site to another. Each facility has varying process conditions, environmental conditions, and project economic considerations that should be reflected in the insulation thickness
calculations. To address the need for site-specific insulation thickness tables, E²G | The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. has created the Insulation Thickness WebTool that is now available through the Equity Engineering Cloud (eec) platform.
