Overview:

Lawrence Cleland is a staff engineer and Group Head at Equity.  He is responsible for implementing RBI assessments as well as managing and mentoring his team of RBI engineers.  He is highly knowledgeable in the methodology and implementation of API RP 580/581 and is an instructor for both the API RP 580/581 course and the API RBI software course.

In his project management duties, Lawrence is responsible for validating mechanical integrity data, assessing piping systems and circuits, analyzing process fluid data and damage mechanisms, reviewing inspection history and effectiveness, leading meetings with plant personnel, and creating detailed inspection plans and reports that incorporate the calculated results of the RBI software in accordance with the established RBI methodology.

While he has a strong chemical engineering background, Lawrence also has a keen understanding of the mechanical integrity, inspection, and damage mechanism aspects of RBI and has proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams; additionally, he has written extensively about uninspectable risk in Equity’s Industry Insights and about RBI in general for Inspectioneering.  His endless drive to continue developing these skills makes him a valued resource in aiding the entire group through all phases of the RBI process.
